Important COVID Information from LCSD/DHEC

COVID Update

Thank you for your patience as we have adjusted our quarantine period for students and staff to follow newly released guidance by the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Effective today (Wednesday, January 5), students and staff who test positive for Covid-19 are eligible to return to school after 5 days of quarantine as long as they are asymptomatic and they wear a mask at school on days 6-10. Students and staff must submit the District’s Self-Certification Form stating they have been symptom and fever free (without fever reducing medication) for the past 24 hours before returning to school.

Students and staff who have been identified as a close contact will also have the option for the shorter 5-day quarantine period as long as they test negative no earlier than the 4th day after contact. Students and staff must provide documentation of the negative covid- test and wear a mask to school on days 6-10.

Students and staff who are maximally vaccinated and do not have symptoms, or who have tested positive (PCR or Antigen test) for Covid-19 within the past 90 days, do not need to quarantine after a close contact. DHEC recommends testing at day 5, and they must wear a mask at school through Day 10 after exposure.

Please Complete This Self-Certification Form When Returning to School Following COVID Isolation or Quarantine.

You must receive approval to return to school following submission.
