Students in Law Enforcement Services class received a visit from Lancaster Deputy County Administrator Stephany Snowden. The students were able to benefit from Deputy Administrator Snowden's past Law Enforcement experience and how she used those past experiences to help lead our county. During her presentation, she also role played a couple of law enforcement scenarios with the students to get their thinking caps motivated.





This week, Nov. 18 - 22, schools across the country will celebrate excellence in education.

The Ambush Club & the Heyward Family volunteered their Saturday (Nov. 16) morning with the non-profit organization Sheltered of Lancaster at Springdell Baptist Church. The volunteers were able to help out with set up/break down, clothing & food distribution, assisting the homeless with location of resources, and bagging items. It was a great day of service to the community.






Remember those promotional letters our Marketing students sent to some of their favorite brands? Well another response was received. This time from Charlotte FC! The package included a personalized letter to the student, signed photo of a player, and enough playoff rally towels to share with the whole class!


Health Science Clinical students took their EKG Certification at the end of October and 96% of the students passed. The EKG certification is a Nationally recognized certification that allows them to work as an Electrocardiograph Technician. We are so proud of these students and their hard work!!











Thank you to the Hospital Auxiliary at MUSC Lancaster for your generous donation to our Health Science program. It means so much to have the community invested in the success of our students.

We hosted South Middle School 8th graders for their tour on Thursday November 14. These students were able to walk the halls of the Career Center and visit all the programs to learn about the possibilities they will have as high school students starting next year! We look forward to welcoming these students into the Phoenix family beginning next year!







Celebrating Veterans Day! A big shoutout and thank you to SGT Carl Long and SGT Thompson for visiting the Business Education classes of Ms. Baker, Mrs. Lathan, Mrs. George-Miller and Mrs. Wheeler. SGT Long and SGT Thompson inspired our students with engaging demonstrations on budgeting, spending, and saving for the future. They also sparked interest in scholarship opportunities, encouraging students to plan for their future endeavors.

Students in Law Enforcement Services class received a visit from Sgt. Bill Murphy, a Sheriff’s Deputy with over 30 years of Law Enforcement (LE) experience currently with the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office. The students were able to benefit from Sgt. Murphy’s experience during his broad range of career postings. Topics of discussion included: LE career pathways, the evolution of salary for LE Officers, differentiation between prisons and jails, technology used in the local jail, detention center statistics, and the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office goals for the future. The students had an amazing time. Thank you to Sgt. Murphy! The Law Enforcement program looks forward to the partnership with the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.






Today is Veteran's Day and we want to show our appreciation! Thank you to all veterans that have served our country and defended our freedoms! We also want to recognize some of our own and family members of staff for their service!

Eighth grade tours continued on Thursday, November 7! A.R. Rucker 8th graders visited the Career Center to learn more about the course offerings that will be available to them starting next year as 9th graders! We look forward to welcoming some of these students into the Phoenix family next year!


Students and staff members participated in our HOSA Blood Drive last Thursday, October 31. A total of 65 units of blood were collected!

Culinary Arts students prepared a meal for the superintendent, state representatives, and senators to share over a meeting last week. The menu included a grilled chicken Caesar salad and fresh fruit tartlets with raspberry coulis for dessert!



Here's an example of how multiple programs work together at the Career Center. Welding and Auto Collision classes joined forces to build a rack to use for forklift training! Several programs offer the forklift training and certification to students!
