Calling all LHS ARTISTS...

Please see the wonderful opportunity for our students below!
Greetings from the Southern Region of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated!
This year, we will host the college fair at the Charlotte Convention Center, on Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Our target audience is high school juniors, seniors, and college students. Our goal is to provide students with access to information that they may not normally receive about the HBCU experience. During the College Fair, students will visit with Admissions Officers from over 30 HBCUs, participate in workshops to learn more about applying for scholarships, and have numerous opportunities to receive scholarships from attending colleges, universities, and education nonprofits from across the south.
We recommend students complete their online registration by February 23, 2024, to maximize their college admission and scholarship opportunities. Please have students bring 5 transcripts to the event. For more information, contact Trevin Montgomery via email at trevinm@hotmail.com or call 803-807-0179.

This coming Saturday, January 27th we will be hosting a workshop for parents at Lancaster High School. In addition to a presentation about housing and labor laws, we will have the honor of the presence of Mr. Maleek Chapman from HOPE in Lancaster.

Due to the threat of inclement weather, Lancaster County School District has designated Tuesday, January 9, 2024, as an E-Learning Day for all schools and offices. There will not be any afterschool activities on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Again, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, will be an E-Learning Day for all employees and students. This is over safety concerns of the potential for severe weather in our area. Based on weather guidance, we could experience heavy rainfall, flash flooding, damaging winds, and the possibility of tornadoes. The latest weather predictions show parts of our county getting winds of up to 30 mph with wind gusts exceeding 40 mph. If this comes to fruition, we will face dangers operating school buses and in transportation in general. We will continue to monitor the weather and take any necessary safety precautions as warranted to keep our students safe. For more specifics for your student, your student’s teacher and school will send more information. This early notice will allow everyone to make the necessary arrangements for tomorrow. We will continue to monitor the weather, and we will keep you informed through Remind texts and the district website. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. As always, keeping our students and staff safe is our number one priority.

Varsity Teams Weekend at the Bearcat Invitational:
We started the weekend off with the Varsity Boys Friday night in night one. I thought we were wrestling better and getting 5 guys to the 2nd day. We lost one on the second day due to needing to be with family. The remaining 4 went in and battled hard! I have seen a lot of growth. We still have plenty to develop before getting into our region duals! I am proud of 3 of our guys making the podium today!!
Peyton Miles - Placed 5th
Jadon Shannon - Placed 8th
Johnny Maynard - Placed 7th
Our girls came in today and we had some of the best wrestling as a team that I have seen yet! They definitely grew up and this was their best tournament as a team at this point! All of our ladies did a great job!
Our Lady Bruins finished 5th overall in team points and we had 2 Champions on the day and received their belt!! Extremely proud of both of these ladies!!
Nichya Pemberton - Champion
Nataliya Clyburn - Champion
It’s time to get right back to work on Monday!! See you all then!

LHS would also like to congratulate the MIDDLE SCHOOL qualifiers:
Our team fought hard today in the first round of qualifiers for state. The following wrestlers placed Top 3 in their bracket and will move on to Clover High next weekend to compete for their next spot!
Congratulations to:
Ashton Gist (1st place) 120 weight class
CharQuavius Allen (1st place) 126 weight class
Elijah McPhearson (1st Place) 175 weight class
An awesome job to Chance Simpson and Marquis Witherspoon who placed 4th in their brackets and Carson Miles who placed 5th in his.
I can’t begin to describe how difficult today was seeing many teams we do not see throughout the season until this time of the year and to perform at the level we did should speak volumes to these kids and their determination to succeed in this sport. Keep developing and keep going forward!
See everyone at practice on Monday.
